Club Ohio Announces Tommy Spijkers as a Director of Coaching

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Club Ohio Announces Tommy Spijkers as a Director of Coaching.

Tommy will serve as the Director of Coaching for our Dayton and Springfield locations.

DAYTON, Ohio, April 9, 2020 - Club Ohio is very excited to announce the addition of Tommy Spijkers to our staff. Tommy will serve as the Director of Coaching for our Dayton and Springfield locations. Along with leading staff and setting training curriculum, his responsibilities will also include coaching two of our Dayton teams, and directing our Juniors programming.

Tommy has over 18 years of coaching experience, where he is the current Associate Director for the CUP girls program. He also runs his individual and small group training company, PDSA Soccer, in Dayton and Cincinnati. As the founder of the virtual Soccer Homework Academy-- a program currently offered to all current Club Ohio players, he is always looking for ways to challenge players.

Tommy has gained experience coaching at some of the country's highest levels. He currently coaches a CUP U15 and a U14 girls team who are both in the National League, with the U14 team in first place of the league (before the leagues got canceled). Tommy has coached teams who competed at the Midwest Regional Championships and in GLC (Great Lakes Conference), MRL (Midwest Regional League) and NPL (National Premier League). His teams have won numerous events including the State Cup.

In the past, Tommy has been the Director of Coaching for Bellbrook Soccer and the Academy Manager for the (back then) USL Pro club, Dutch Lions. Before moving to Ohio, Tommy worked in the New Jersey and New York area as a professional soccer coach. Tommy currently holds an UEFA B license from the highly regarded Dutch National Soccer Association along with the US Soccer Director of Coaching Diploma.

“I am very excited to join Club Ohio after this spring season. Living in the Dayton area, I have seen the development of the club and the great work Sandy Poole, Dayton Director, and the staff have done. The Club Ohio teams I have seen play made a great impression on me, and I look forward to getting to know the Club Ohio players, families, and coaches. In my talks with the club I have been very impressed with the Club’s leadership and I am honored to become part of this great organization. I am a firm believer in developing players from the youngest age and creating a style of play based on skill and tactical game understanding. It is exciting to look forward to helping the staff to best serve out players as well as coaching and training Club Ohio players myself.”

We would like to welcome Tommy to the Club Ohio family and look forward to our players, teams, and parents getting to know and work with him!
