Club Ohio United Hire New Director of Coaching

The Club Ohio United Board of Directors is excited to announce that we have selected Colten Holdren as our new Director of Coaching (DOC).

Colten brings a passion for the game of soccer that is unrivaled in our organization which began at a young age in the Marietta Soccer League.  As his love for soccer grew, he made the step up to our club, (formerly the Marietta Flames) where he played for the Marietta Sting and Marietta Hornets and continued to develop his skills and understanding of the game.

“Colten has impressed us from the very beginning. His passion for the game and strong focus on player development will be a valuable asset for our club. We are very excited to see the positive changes he can implement as our new Director of Coaching”,  Nikki Mildren, Club Ohio United Board of Directors.

This helped prepare Colten for an outstanding 4-year career at Marietta High School.  Colten started all 4 years at Marietta and still to this day holds the MHS record with 83 games played during his high school career.  Colten played all over the field for MHS as well as a stint as the goalkeeper for the Tigers.  He helped lead the Tigers to an overall 57-16-10 record, with 1 league championship as well as 3 district championships.  He was also an all-league as well as an all-district honoree.

Since his graduation in 2011, he has continued to learn the game and hone his coaching skills.  Colten has a way of reaching his players during training sessions that promotes a deep understanding of the expectation, purpose, and desired outcome for everything he works with the players on.

Since 2014 he has been the Head JV/Varsity Assistant Coach at Marietta High School under Todd Morris.  During this time, he has helped guide MHS to 2 East Central Ohio League Championships, 5 Sectional Championships, as well as 1 District title this past season.  In 2019, his fellow coaches selected him as the Southeast District Assistant Coach of the Year.

“The addition of Colten to our staff at Marietta High School has been such an integral part of the success we have had as a program during Colten’s time with us.  Colten has put in so much time and work to study the game, to study coaching concepts, technical and tactical approaches, and coaching methods and ideologies, and help bring those to both the high school program and Club Ohio.  He has a vision, whether it be a short term tactical approach or a basic concept, and he has a desire to communicate that vision and message to the players in a way that the players can learn and be successful and implement what is being asked of them.  He has grown and developed so much over the last six years and is not only a huge asset to me and our program but Club Ohio and the entire Mid-Ohio Valley soccer community.  We have had numerous discussions over the past couple of years about the Director of Coaching role, and I know that he has a great plan and vision in place to really enhance the coaching and the level of play within Club Ohio United, and I have no doubt that this is a role that he will flourish in, and soccer in the area will reap the benefits of this decision for years to come”  - Todd Morris

He has spent the last 3 seasons as a coach in our club.  He has been the head coach of our 2001, 2003, and 2011 boys teams as well as running countless training sessions for other teams in our club.
